Thistle & Sage started out as a small idea between Meg & Willy to have a combined creative space to hold workshops with maybe a small retail section. Plants fit in well with florals and pottery, thus starting out in the plant business fit well. Thistle & Sage opened in feb 2019 and grew into what is now a full time plant store. Meg left Thistle & Sage in July 2020 to peruse her pottery full time, but you can still find her handmade goods on our shelves.
A florist, plant lover, gardener, wife & momma.
I guess you could say a green thumb runs in my family. I grew up with a home full of houseplants, a garden overflowing with lush flowering perennials, annuals, veggies & fruit trees and our fields producing beautiful crops year after year. Growing up on a farm and being raised by parents who taught me to see the beauty in all living beings no matter how small. Starting out with a seed, adding in a large amounts of love and labor, and ending up with a plant or crop that one can be proud of.
I continued with my love of plants and got a Production Horticulture Diploma & graduated in Floral Design (2010), gaining experience as an agronomist and florist before finally starting out my own business as Prairie Blooms Floral Design (2013). This grew into a desire to open up a brick & mortar store to share my love of plants, flower, decor & pretty things.
