our story
Back to our roots! While Thistle & Sage Creative has been many things, its always been about creating. Creating beautiful things to sell. Creating a collection of lush plant. Creating all types of floral arrangements. Creating wonderful customer experiences. Creating a welcoming place to shop or do activities. Creating meaningful friendships.
The first sentence of our bio in 2019, which hasn't changed much in the last 6 years - "Airy, warm & inviting - a space dripping in plants, greenery, flowers and local handmade goods! A place for you to explore, learn and be inspired!"

Thistle & Sage Creative started out as a small retail store with some handmade goods, plants, wedding florals, workshops and classes in 2019. We have has since grown into a larger space in 2022 where we expanded into a full range of fresh flowers, houseplants, decor, handmade goods and gifts. As with everything small business, change is either a must or inevitable as our lives change. We said good bye to the fresh florals (after a total 15years in the floral industry) at the end of 2024, with a new idea in mind.
A big passion for small business has always played a major role and it in turn fostered the creation of the T&S Creative Collective. A sister company to Thistle & Sage Creative, where we support local and Canadian small businesses, makers and creators through our retail store. Being serial entrepreneurs ourselves we understand that we all need a boost in building our business. The T&S Creative Collective does just that!

Willy Sparrow
Hi! I'm a plant lover, gardener, florist, wife, momma & owner of Thistle & Sage Creative.
​
I guess you could say a green thumb runs in my family. I grew up with a home full of houseplants, a garden overflowing with lush flowering perennials, annuals, veggies & fruit trees and our fields producing beautiful crops year after year. Growing up on a farm and being raised by parents who taught me to see the beauty in all living beings no matter how small. Starting out with a seed, adding in a large amounts of love and labor, and ending up with a plant or crop that one can be proud of.

I continued with my love of plants and got a Production Horticulture Diploma & graduated in Floral Design (2010), gaining experience as an agronomist and florist before finally starting out my own business as Prairie Blooms Floral Design (2013). This grew into a desire to open up a Thistle & Sage (2019) as brick & mortar store to share my love of plants, flowers, decor & all things pretty.
Expanding to a larger current location in 2022, that truly embodies all of my creative plant visions!
